Assistant Mentorship
Participants who complete a weeklong VTP can apply to serve as an Assistant Mentor (AM) to future cohorts of that project—similar to becoming a teaching assistant for a previously completed course.
AMs help new cohorts with challenges similar to those they encountered during their cohort. AMs are not expected to be an expert: when they are unsure how to answer a participant's question, a mentor will step in.
Serving as an AM helps develop mentorship skills, reinforce concepts, and develop a deeper understanding of the material. It’s also an opportunity to interact with more VTP participants and expand one’s professional network.
We ask for a four-hour time commitment throughout the week. AMs receive an honorarium for their efforts.
Previous VTP participants can apply to be an Assistant Mentor here.
